Addictions Treatment

Windmoor Healthcare of Clearwater is a progressive, fully accredited private behavioral healthcare facility. One of our top services is the Inpatient Addictions Treatment Program.

This cost-effective treatment program is tailored to meet the individual needs of our patients.

The program features treatment for three primary addictions:

  • Alcohol
  • Drug Abuse
  • Compulsive Gambling

Weekly aftercare groups as well as both on-site and community self-help groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and Gamblers Anonymous also help program graduates continue to manage their addictions.

How do you know if you have a problem?

If your use of drugs, or the amount you drink, or the way you gamble are causing problems in your life, then you may have a serious problem.

When your life is falling apart, when financial problems are mounting, when you feel your life is not complete without the use of alcohol or drugs, when you can't manage on your own without using chemical substances or gambling, then you need to consider professional intervention.

Whether it is alcohol, chemical substances or compulsive gambling, you can't do it alone. You can call Windmoor Healthcare of Clearwater 24 hours (by appointment) a day, seven days a week for help and a free assessment.

Responding to a critical statewide need, Windmoor Healthcare of Clearwater has developed an affordable 28 day inpatient treatment program for those with alcohol, drug abuse and compulsive gambling addictions.

The program features cost-effective treatment for voluntary clients seeking assistance with a spectrum of addictive disorders.

Taking an interdisciplinary approach with services overseen by a physician, the dignified setting helps clients gain insight into their destructive patterns of behaviors, replacing them with healthy coping skills.

Inpatient treatment for an intensive three-week period, supplemented with a variety of personalized aftercare services, helps individuals develop techniques to overcome the emotional pressures and environmental triggers that lead to relapse.

Recovery takes true desire to conquer an addiction.

The recovery process focuses on the beginning steps of overcoming an addiction.

Windmoor Healthcare's approach is an individual model, which includes medical and psychiatric treatment, as needed. The program offers a strong foundation with helpful coping skills and features both psycho-educational and psychotherapy groups such as:

  • Self-esteem
  • Coping Skills
  • Decision Making
  • Problem Solving
  • Stress Management
  • Communication Skills
  • Recreational Therapy
  • Healthy Lifestyle Skills
  • Medication Management

Those who come to treatment receive complete assessments and evaluations. Counselors also develop a psychosocial summary with each individual in order to better learn the factors, which may have contributed to a person's addiction.

Compulsive Gambling is a disease similar to other addictions. Successful treatment usually involves intensive inpatient care. Studies show that less than 2% of those who try only outpatient therapy do not continue treatment after one year and seldom effectively overcome their gambling addictions. However, the success rate increases significantly with inpatient treatment, education and structured aftercare programs.

Windmoor's focus on treating gamblers is rare. Compulsive gambling has not received as much recognition as other addictions; therefore, treatment programs are scarce.

Windmoor Healthcare of Clearwater has partnered with the Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling to coordinate training and educational services.
